Tennessee WR Coach Kelsey Pope Analyzes Vols Receivers’ Readiness for Arkansas Showdown.

As Tennessee prepares for a pivotal SEC matchup against Arkansas, wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope provided insight into the Vols’ receiving corps and their readiness for the challenge ahead. With the Volunteers aiming to solidify their place in the conference race, the performance of the wide receivers will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the game.

Kelsey Pope, known for his development of young talent and attention to detail, spoke about the growth and preparation of his unit leading up to the Arkansas game. “Our guys are locked in and ready,” Pope stated. “This week has been all about execution, making sure that we are precise in our routes and timing with the quarterbacks. Arkansas is a tough team, but we feel good about where we are heading into this game.”

The Vols’ receiving corps has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season, with multiple playmakers stepping up in key moments. Leading the group is veteran wideout Bru McCoy, who has been a reliable target for Tennessee’s quarterbacks. Pope praised McCoy’s leadership and consistency, noting, “Bru has been a steady presence for us. His work ethic and ability to make contested catches have been huge, and we’re expecting him to be a big factor against Arkansas.”

Pope also highlighted the contributions of younger receivers who have stepped up this season, including sophomore Squirrel White and freshman standout Kaleb Webb. “Squirrel has that speed and explosiveness that can change a game in an instant,” Pope explained. “He’s learning to read defenses better, and we’ve been working on his ability to create separation. Kaleb, on the other hand, has shown maturity beyond his years. He’s a physical receiver who can make plays in traffic, and we’re excited about his potential.”

One area Pope emphasized is route precision and communication with the quarterbacks. Against Arkansas’ defense, which is known for creating turnovers, the wide receivers will need to be sharp in their execution. “We’ve been drilling the importance of being in sync with the quarterbacks. If we execute, we believe we can move the ball effectively,” Pope added.

As the Vols prepare for this crucial game, Kelsey Pope’s confidence in his receivers suggests Tennessee’s offense will be ready to deliver against Arkansas.
