Indiana Hoosiers

IU basketball guards Gabe Cupps and Jakai Newton both out vs. UNCG

Indiana will be down two reserve guards when they host UNC Greensboro tonight.

Classmates Gabe Cupps and Jakai Newton will both be unavailable according to the Big Ten’s availability report released this afternoon.

Neither player has had a significant role early in the 2024-25 campaign.

Cupps was listed as questionable against South Carolina, and he dressed for the game. But the sophomore guard never saw the floor. He played in the first two games but has yet to score a point this season. The nature of Cupps’ injury or other reason for being out is unclear to this point.

This is the second straight game Newton is listed as out. Head coach Mike Woodson said last week Newton is dealing with a hamstring injury. He has played in one game and scored two points.
