Buckeyes’ Ryan Day set sights on Quinn Ewers when the now-Texas quarterback was 8th grader

The Texas Longhorns are headed into the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff after a double-overtime victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Texas’ reward for making it to the next round is facing off against the hottest team in the country, Ohio State, which just obliterated the formerly undefeated No. 1 team in the country, Oregon, by a score of 41-21 in the Rose Bowl. Before Ohio State and Texas face off, former Longhorns quarterback Chris Simms made an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show” to talk about the Longhorns and quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning.

In a prediction on the show, Simms made it clear he believes Arch Manning will be the starting quarterback of the Longhorns when the 2025 season kicks off.

Simms doesn’t believe Ewers would go in the first two rounds of the draft, even though he admitted the current Longhorns starting quarterback has the potential to do so. In order to do that, though, Simms believes he’d have to play another year of “high quality” collegiate football.

“I think he’s going to have to show people maybe another year of high quality football play, but I expect the Arch Manning era to start after this season’s over,” Simms said
