The University of Texas at Austin’s rich football tradition was proudly represented at Super Bowl LIX by a trio of Longhorn Legends. The esteemed group consisted of NFL icons Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams, and Vince Young, all of whom donned the burnt orange and white during their collegiate careers.
The three Longhorn greats were invited to participate in the NFL’s Legends Program, which honors the contributions and achievements of former players. Ricky Williams, a 1998 Heisman Trophy winner and two-time NFL rushing champion, echoed Campbell’s sentiments. “It’s amazing to think about how far we’ve come, from playing on the same field at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to being part of the NFL’s Legends Program,” Williams said. “We’re proud to represent the University of Texas and to have had the opportunity to play the game we love at the highest level.”
Vince Young, a two-time NFL Pro Bowl quarterback and Rose Bowl MVP, was equally excited to be part of the Super Bowl festivities. “It’s a dream come true to be here with my fellow Longhorns, Earl and
