#4 Vols Cruise to 70-52 Victory at Oklahoma…
The #4 Tennessee Volunteers cruised to a 70-52 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday afternoon. The Vols dominated the game from start to finish, leading by as many as 20 points in the second half.
Tennessee’s offense was led by Santiago Vescovi, who scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. Josiah-Jordan James added 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Olivier Nkamhoua chipped in with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
The Vols’ defense was equally impressive, holding Oklahoma to just 34.6% shooting from the field. Tennessee also forced 16 turnovers and outrebounded the Sooners 42-31.
“I’m really proud of our guys for the way they played today,” said Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes. “We knew Oklahoma was a tough team, but our guys came out focused and played with a lot of energy. Our defense was outstanding, and we did a great job of rebounding the ball.”
The win improves Tennessee’s record to 18-3 overall and 7-1 in the Southeastern Conference. The Vols will return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Texas A&M Aggies.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, falls to 12-9 overall and 2-6 in the Big 12 Conference. The Sooners will look to bounce back on Tuesday night when they host the Baylor Bears.
In other news, the Tennessee Volunteers have moved up to #3 in the latest AP Poll, following their impressive win over Oklahoma. The Vols are now just one spot behind the top-ranked Purdue Boilermakers.
