UNLV FOOTBALL COMMUNITY MOURNS THE LOSS OF SENIOR OL BEN CHRISTMAN_

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) football community is in shock and mourning after the sudden passing of senior offensive lineman Ben Christman. The 21-year-old Christman was found dead in an off-campus apartment on Tuesday morning, the school announced.

Christman, a native of Ohio, was a standout player on the UNLV football team, starting in multiple games and earning All-Mountain West honorable mention honors in 2022. He was a beloved teammate and a respected member of the Rebel community.

“We are devastated by the loss of Ben Christman,” said UNLV head coach Barry Odom. “Ben was an outstanding young man who was loved and respected by his teammates, coaches, and everyone in the Rebel community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ben’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Christman’s passing has sent shockwaves throughout the UNLV community, with teammates, coaches, and fans taking to social media to express their condolences and share memories of the beloved lineman.

“I’m still in shock,” tweeted UNLV quarterback Doug Brumfield. “Ben was more than just a teammate, he was a brother. I’ll miss him forever. Rest in peace, Ben.”

“Ben Christman was an amazing young man with a bright future ahead of him,” said UNLV Athletics Director Erick Harper. “His passing is a tremendous loss for our university and our athletic department. We will do everything in our power to support Ben’s family and our student-athletes during this difficult time.”

The UNLV football team has canceled all activities for the remainder of the week, including practice and team meetings, as the team mourns the loss of their teammate.

Counseling services have been made available to UNLV student-athletes, and the university is providing support to Christman’s family during this difficult time.

The cause of Christman’s death has not been released, and the university is cooperating with local authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding his passing.

As the UNLV community comes to terms with the loss of Ben Christman, they will remember him as a talented young athlete, a devoted teammate, and a beloved member of the Rebel family.

“Ben Christman will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of everyone in the UNLV community,” said Coach Odom. “We will do everything in our power to honor his memory and celebrate his life.”
