Matt Rhule Kicks Off 2025 Spring Ball Season, Outlines Expectations for Nebraska Football….
Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule addressed the media on Tuesday morning, previewing the Huskers’ highly anticipated 2025 spring ball season. Rhule, who is entering his second year at the helm of the Nebraska program, outlined his expectations for the team and provided insight into the coaching staff’s plans for the upcoming spring practices.
“We’re excited to get started with spring ball,” Rhule said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do, but I’m confident in the direction of our program. We’re going to focus on building on the fundamentals we established last season and continuing to develop our team’s identity.”
Rhule emphasized the importance of spring ball in terms of player development, position battles, and installing new schemes on both sides of the ball. He also highlighted the need for the team to improve its overall depth and competition, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
“One of the things we’re looking to do this spring is create more competition at every position,” Rhule explained. “We need to develop more depth and have guys who can step in and play at a high level. That’s going to be a major focus for us this spring.”
The Huskers will begin spring practices on March 20 and will hold 15 practices over the course of the next five weeks. The team will also host its annual Red-White Spring Game on April 22, which will provide fans with their first glimpse of the 2025 Nebraska football team.
Rhule also announced that the Huskers will be welcoming several new coaches to the staff, including defensive coordinator, Tony White. White, who previously served as the defensive coordinator at Syracuse, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Nebraska defense.
“We’re thrilled to have Tony White on board as our defensive coordinator,” Rhule said. “He’s a tremendous coach with a proven track record of success. We’re looking forward to seeing the impact he’ll have on our defense this spring.”
As the Huskers embark on the 2025 spring ball season, Rhule’s message to the team is clear: it’s time to take the next step.
“We’re not just looking to be a good team,” Rhule emphasized. “We’re looking to be a great team. We want to compete for championships and make our fans proud. That’s what Nebraska football is all about.”
