Veteran point guard Kerr Kriisa has announced his commitment to the University of Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball team for the upcoming season. Kriisa made the announcement via his Instagram account, stating, “I’m pretty sure it’s my last year of eligibility (for real this time). Excited to be a Bearcat!!”
Originally from Tartu, Estonia, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard has had a diverse collegiate basketball journey. Kriisa began his NCAA career with the Arizona Wildcats, where he played for three seasons. During his tenure at Arizona, he led the Pac-12 Conference in assists for two consecutive seasons, showcasing his playmaking abilities.
Following his time at Arizona, Kriisa transferred to West Virginia University for the 2023-2024 season. There, he averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 assists per game, further solidifying his reputation as a skilled point guard.
In the 2024-2025 season, Kriisa joined the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Unfortunately, his time at Kentucky was marred by a foot injury sustained during a game against Gonzaga on December 7, 2024. The injury required surgery and sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Prior to his injury, Kriisa appeared in nine games, averaging 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
Kriisa’s decision to transfer to Cincinnati comes after entering the NCAA transfer portal in late March 2025. He expressed gratitude to the University of Kentucky’s coaching staff, teammates, and fans during his departure.
The University of Cincinnati Bearcats, under the leadership of head coach Wes Miller, are looking to enhance their roster for the upcoming season. The addition of an experienced guard like Kriisa is expected to provide a significant boost to the team’s backcourt. Kriisa’s extensive collegiate experience and playmaking skills are anticipated to contribute positively to the Bearcats’ performance in the Big 12 Conference.
As Kriisa prepares for his final year of NCAA eligibility, his journey reflects resilience and adaptability. From his beginnings in Estonia to his stints across multiple U.S. college programs, Kriisa brings a wealth of experience to Cincinnati. Bearcats fans and the broader college basketball community will be keenly watching how his leadership and skills influence Cincinnati’s performance in the forthcoming season.
