Jayden Quaintance Commits to Kentucky, Eyes Return from ACL Injury by Season Start
In a significant boost for Kentucky basketball, five-star center Jayden Quaintance has committed to the Wildcats, marking his return to the program after a season at Arizona State. Quaintance, a projected top-five pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, is currently recovering from a torn ACL suffered in February but is optimistic about his return for the upcoming season.
Quaintance originally committed to Kentucky in November 2023 but decommitted following the departure of head coach John Calipari. He subsequently joined Arizona State, where he averaged 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game as a freshman. His standout performance earned him spots on the Big 12 All-Defensive and All-Freshman teams.
The 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward underwent successful ACL surgery on March 19 and has since entered rehabilitation. Quaintance expressed confidence in his recovery, stating that he is on track to be cleared for contact in September, aligning with the start of the 2025–26 season.
Quaintance’s return to Kentucky was influenced by the support he received from the program and encouragement from fellow recruit Jasper Johnson. His addition bolsters a Wildcats roster that includes key players like Jaland Lowe, Jasper Johnson, and Otega Oweh.
With Quaintance’s commitment, Kentucky solidifies its frontcourt and enhances its prospects for the upcoming season. As he continues his rehabilitation, both the team and fans eagerly anticipate his return to the court.
