Lorenzo Cowan Returns to Kentucky Football After Season at USC
In a notable move during the spring transfer window, former three-star EDGE rusher Lorenzo Cowan has committed to the University of Kentucky, marking a return to the program he initially pledged to during his high school recruitment. Cowan spent the 2024 season with the USC Trojans, redshirting his freshman year, and now brings four years of eligibility to the Wildcats
Cowan, a Savannah, Georgia native and standout from Jenkins High School, originally committed to Kentucky in September 2023. However, after an official visit to USC in December, he flipped his commitment, drawn by the Trojans’ culture and coaching staff
At USC, Cowan was recognized for his development during spring camp, with head coach Lincoln Riley highlighting his progress
Now, Cowan’s return to Kentucky bolsters the Wildcats’ defensive depth, particularly on the edge. His high school performance included 76 tackles, 11 for loss, eight sacks, and notable special teams contributions Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 220 pounds, Cowan’s athleticism and versatility are expected to make an immediate impact.
Cowan’s decision also reunites him with his older brother, Tavion Gadson, a defensive lineman for Kentucky, fulfilling their initial plan to play together at the collegiate level
As Kentucky continues to strengthen its roster through the transfer portal, Cowan’s addition is a significant step in enhancing the team’s defensive capabilities for the upcoming season.
