Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Raleigh Mother and Four Children in Georgia

In a devastating incident on Sunday, April 6, 2025, a Raleigh mother and her four young children lost their lives in a fiery car crash on Interstate 95 in McIntosh County, Georgia. The victims have been identified as 27-year-old Reagan Dougan and her children, aged 9, 4, 2, and 3 months.

According to Georgia State Patrol reports, the accident occurred around 6 a.m. as Dougan was driving a rented Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound from Raleigh, North Carolina, en route to Florida to reunite with her husband. Witnesses reported seeing the SUV traveling at a high rate of speed before it collided with a white sedan in the right southbound lane. The impact caused the Jeep to veer across all three lanes, strike a guardrail, and burst into flames, resulting in the deaths of all occupants.

The driver of the sedan survived the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment; their condition has not been disclosed. The accident led to a four-hour closure of I-95 as authorities conducted their investigation.

Neighbors in the Raleigh community where the Dougan family had recently settled expressed profound grief over the loss. Jason Flores, a neighbor, recalled, “We always waved at each other; she always had a smile on her face. The kids were always happy.” He added, “It’s hard to imagine—they were here one day, gone the next. Tragic. Life is short.”

The family had moved into their Raleigh home just months before the tragedy. Flores noted that Reagan appeared to be a devoted mother, always seen with her children. The children were often observed playing energetically in the yard, embodying a vibrant presence in the neighborhood.

In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support the surviving family members and assist with funeral expenses. As of Tuesday afternoon, the fundraiser had garnered nearly $40,000 in contributions.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released further details pending the outcome of their inquiry. The community remains in mourning as they come to terms with the sudden and heartbreaking loss of the Dougan family.
