The Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball program has secured a major addition through the transfer portal, landing Georgia Tech standout Tonie Morgan. The 5-foot-9 junior guard from Tallahassee, Florida, brings a wealth of experience and talent to Lexington, having been a two-time All-ACC selection during her tenure with the Yellow Jackets.
In her junior season, Morgan averaged 13.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game, showcasing her versatility and playmaking abilities. She was instrumental in Georgia Tech’s impressive 15-0 start to the 2023-24 season, which propelled them to a No. 13 national ranking. Morgan’s aggressive drives to the basket and shot creation made her a consistent scoring threat, highlighted by a career-high 31-point performance against Stanford.
Morgan’s decision to transfer to Kentucky aligns with the Wildcats’ recent efforts to bolster their roster under head coach Kenny Brooks. Her arrival is expected to provide a significant boost to the team’s backcourt, offering both leadership and on-court production. With Morgan’s addition, Kentucky continues to strengthen its lineup, aiming for a competitive edge in the upcoming season.
