READY TO TAKE THE WORLD ON’: NO. 23 BYU’S CONFIDENCE SOARING HEADING INTO BIG 12 TOURNAMENT IN KANSAS CITY

Provo, UT – The No. 23 BYU Cougars are feeling confident and ready to take on the best of the Big 12 Conference as they head into the conference tournament in Kansas City.

After a strong regular season, which saw the Cougars finish with a 22-9 overall record and a 12-6 mark in Big 12 play, BYU is looking to make a deep run in the tournament.

“We’re feeling great about ourselves right now,” said BYU head coach Mark Pope. “We’ve worked hard to get to this point, and we’re confident that we can compete with anyone in the conference.”

The Cougars have been led by a strong offense, which has averaged over 75 points per game this season. BYU has also been stout on defense, holding opponents to just over 65 points per game.

One of the key players for the Cougars has been senior guard Spencer Johnson, who has averaged over 14 points per game this season. Johnson has been a leader on and off the court for BYU, and his experience will be crucial as the Cougars navigate the tournament.

“We’re ready to take the world on,” Johnson said. “We’ve worked hard to get to this point, and we’re confident that we can make a deep run in the tournament.”

BYU will face off against the winner of the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament on Thursday. The Cougars will be looking to avenge a regular-season loss to the Sooners, and advance to the semifinals.
