Elite 2025 Defensive Lineman Jalen Wiggins Commits to Florida Gators
The Florida Gators have secured a significant addition to their 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins from James Rickards High School in Tallahassee, Florida. Wiggins, standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, is ranked as the No. 8 defensive lineman and the No. 82 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Rankings
Wiggins chose Florida over several top programs, including Florida State, Georgia, and LSU. His decision followed a visit to Gainesville during the Gators’ Junior Day event, where he connected with the coaching staff and current players. “In the end, it just came down to wanting to be a leader as well as falling in love with the place from more than just football,” Wiggins told On3. “Florida has always been special, and hearing insight from the players on a personal level was huge”
The commitment marks the first defensive pledge for Florida’s 2025 class and is the first major recruiting win for new defensive line coach Gerald Chatman, who re-offered Wiggins shortly after joining the staff. Wiggins is expected to play the “F” position in Florida’s defensive scheme, a role that utilizes his versatility and athleticism. He has been projected to play either jack linebacker or the “F” defensive end position due to his length and size
During his high school career, Wiggins has demonstrated impressive on-field performance, recording 253 total tackles, 68 tackles-for-loss, and 44 sacks over the last three seasons His commitment boosts Florida’s recruiting class, joining four-star running back Waltez Clark and three-star wide receiver Josiah Abdullah.
Wiggins’ decision is a notable recruiting victory for head coach Billy Napier and the Gators, particularly given the competition from in-state rival Florida State. His addition not only strengthens Florida’s defensive line but also signals the program’s growing momentum on the recruiting trail.
As the Gators continue to build their 2025 class, Wiggins’ commitment serves as a cornerstone for future defensive recruits and reflects the coaching staff’s ability to attract top-tier talent.
