BREAKING: Collin Chandler has officially announced that he will return to Kentucky for his sophomore season, per his Twitter account.

Collin Chandler, the promising 6-foot-5 guard from Farmington, Utah, has officially announced his return to the Kentucky Wildcats for his sophomore season. The announcement came via Chandler’s Twitter account, where he posted a GIF of John Wick saying, “Yeah, I’m thinking I’m back,” signaling his commitment to the Wildcats for the 2025–26 season

Chandler’s journey to Kentucky has been unique. After being ranked among the top 35 recruits in the 2022 class, he committed to BYU before embarking on a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon completing his mission, Chandler followed head coach Mark Pope to Kentucky, joining the Wildcats for the 2024–25 season

In his freshman year, Chandler faced the challenge of regaining his basketball form after his mission. Initially seeing limited playtime, he gradually earned a more significant role as the season progressed, particularly during SEC play and the NCAA Tournament. Over 30 games, he averaged 2.7 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. Notably, during the Wildcats’ three NCAA Tournament games, his performance improved to 6.0 points, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 rebounds per game, with impressive shooting percentages, including 62.5% from three-point range

Chandler’s return is expected to bolster Kentucky’s depth at both point guard and shooting guard positions. His ability to space the floor and contribute defensively makes him a valuable asset for the Wildcats. With the departure of key players like Amari Williams, Lamont Butler, and Koby Brea due to expiring eligibility, Chandler’s experience and growth will be instrumental in maintaining and building upon the team culture established by the departing veterans

Head coach Mark Pope has expressed high praise for Chandler, highlighting his silky-smooth jumper, explosive burst, and incredible processing speed on the court. Pope also commended Chandler’s character, noting his decision to serve a two-year mission as a testament to his servant leadership

As Kentucky transitions into its second year under Coach Pope, the return of players like Chandler, along with other key returners such as Otega Oweh and Brandon Garrison, will form the veteran foundation for any new recruits or transfer portal additions to the team. Chandler’s continued development and commitment to the program signal a promising outlook for the Wildcats in the upcoming season.
