Dodgers Dream Free Agent Signing Projected To Land Deal Near $200 Million This Winter
For the last few months, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been tightly connected to Milwaukee Brewers star shortstop Willy Adames. At one point, there were even trade rumors swirling between the two sides, with the hypothetical deals sending top Dodgers pitching prospects to Milwaukee for Adames. Obviously, these rumors never came to be, but, Adames is now a free agent. Signing with the Dodgers could be his reality this winter. ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel projects the superstar shortstop to land a seven-year contract worth $189 million. A deal worth that much wouldn’t be an issue for the Dodgers, but it would weed out the smaller market teams from competing to sign him. “There wasn’t a real everyday shortstop in last year’s free agent class, so Adames is the first true shortstop to hit the market since the 2022-23 bonanza that included Carlos Correa, Trea Turner, Dansby Swanson and Xander Bogaerts,” McDaniel wrote. “Interest in Adames will be high because he can fit into a lot of situations, whether it is staying at shortstop or moving to third base for a team already set at the position.”
Adames, 29, registered 3.1 WAR last season due to his 32 home runs and .794 OPS. The shortstop has gotten better and better as the years have gone by and he’s finally free to sign a massive contract in free agency. The interest will be very high for Adames this winter. Multiple teams will throw their names in the hat, but the Dodgers are the odds-on favorite as of now.
